R Theory Frame Rail Brace Backing Plates are designed to add additional stiffness to your Frame Rail Braces! The Frame Rail Backing Plates act like a giant washer to spread out the load over a larger surface area. Instead of using small washers that distribute the load on smaller surface areas on the thin OEM sheet metal.
In addition to increased rigidity, the design allows us to use low profile carriage bolts. Regardless of who’s Frame Rail braces you use, standard hex bolts will rub holes through your carpet over time if you are not using floor mats. The smooth and low profile of the carriage bolts are friendlier on the carpet and does not wear it out like standard hex bolts.
And if you don’t run any carpets, I guess you can also say it’s one more cool thing to look at.
The top plates come slotted so it will bolt up to different frame rail manufacturers. Send us an email if you want to confirm fitment with your Frame Rail Braces.
